about

The new struggle for resources takes us to the deepest corner of the bottom of the oceans. Licenses are given away for 15 to 30 years, without knowing what minig the deep will do... I read about it in a critical article and decided to make a conscious sound collage of it.

Part of the article translated to english:
'The new gold rush is chasing miners to the bottom of the sea. It seems such a great solution to no longer obtain raw materials for batteries and chips from China or Congo. But we don't know what lives in the deep sea or whether such mining survives.

More than a year ago, Laurens de Jonge, director of marine mining at Royal IHC, flew to the Jamaican capital Kingston for the third time. In the office of a small unknown UN organ, he talked on behalf of the Netherlands about the future of raw materials in the deep sea. He had been asked by the State Department. His visit consisted of preliminary work for the so-called Mining Code, View the concept of the Mining Code here.

It was not the first time that a meeting had been held about the deep sea. The future of our international waters has been hotly debated for over thirty years.

The work paid off. A year later, the last deadline is in sight. Until October 20, scientists, resource diggers, governments and other parties involved can give their opinion one more time on the latest draft version of the Raw Materials Directive.'

When will humanity stop destroying?! Smash capitalism is a first step in a long process...
